NAEYC Annual Conference and Expo

Early childhood professionals met in Orlando, FL this November! NAEYC presented the world´s largest conference on early childhood education. Several SFAYC Board Members attended and had a wonderful time networking and learning with colleagues across the country. Visit the Conference Site for more details here.
National Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development
June 12 - 15, 2011, Providence, Rhode Island
Attending the Professional Development Institute with NAEYC each year has become the best closing for a great school year. In this year’s institute it was all about Curriculum Assessment and Teaching; In other words "putting it all together".
It gave us the opportunity as practitioners and administrators to advance our thinking in the alignment of curriculum, assessment and teaching and most importantly how this alignment can help us reach the best outcomes for children. This PDI is wonderfully organized to allow you time to learn but also to network with colleagues from around the country and exchange ideas and concepts.
For example, the Center for Excellence traveled with 15 teachers and three administrators from Miami-Dade who are all involved in the Early Reading First grant and it is seldom that have there is time to travel and learn together for this many hours while learning about each other and build relationships! Definitely a highly recommended conference to all in our field.
Annual Board Retreat
The Annual Board Retreat took place on July 11, 2011 at Jungle Island. We spent the day getting to know each other better, reviewed the past years success and opportunities and prepared our Strategic Plan for 2012. We are looking forward to collaborating with the community more and fund raising for childrens needs in the community.
