Temple Beth Sholom Foundation School

The Temple Beth Sholom Foundation School Community is on an amazing journey. Our experiences to date have given us the opportunity to develop shared meanings and understandings which have influenced the way we are as a staff both personally and professionally. Our study of the constructivist theories and practices surrounding the Reggio Emila educational approach have and will continue to influence what we do at the Foundation School, an NAEYC Accredited Program.

As professionals we are learning a new way to be in the learning process. We are seeing ourselves as researchers and learners contributing to the child’s capacity to learn and understand the relationships of things around them to themselves. We see parents as our partners in this process.

On August 22, 2011 the Foundation School staff began the process of creating our shared vision statement. Since a big part of what we believe includes parent involvement, we brought parents into the dialogue. Together we articulated our Shared Vision Statement. We spent time in reflection looking at where we were and what we feel should be honored and valued. We asked ourselves questions like what does it mean to be on an individual and communal professional journey? What makes for a quality journey? What does it mean to leave a place of comfort? What guides us along our journey? We realized that our shared vision will be our guide and that it will be important for our community to understand the Vision. We invite you to visit and dialogue with us.
