Heather has been a teacher, Curriculum Supervisor, Director, adjunct professor, Corporate Director and Community Liason. She brings to the board many strengths including, building relationships, and implementation of organizational change moving toward quality improvement.
Kerry Allen joined the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe on June 1, 2004. Currently she serves as the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Regional Facilitator serving Broward, Dade, Monroe, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee Counties delivering Florida Department of Education Training(s) to VPK providers. She assists VPK providers with issues related to quality in classrooms, curriculum, assessment and learning standards. She also supports teachers in their quest to develop and enhance the early literacy skills in young children. Prior to her tenure at the Coalition Kerry worked as the Head Start Director in Springfield, MA, held two management positions in the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare, and was employed by Kaplan Early Learning for 13 years. Kerry is the Vice-President of Public Policy for SFAYC and has been a member of NAEYC for the 15 years.
Ingrid is a dedicated member of our Board of Directors. Committed to Early Childhood education Ingrid brings many talents and a lot of enthusiasm to SFAYC.
Sylvia De Armas has demonstrated her passion for early childhood education through her own professional growth and work. She has served as a teacher at the United Way Center for Excellence, as a researcher through the South Florida Visible Thinking Research Group, a college professor for Florida International University, mentor/trainer for local organizations and now opening her own center; Bottega Child Development Center in 2012. As a board member she hopes to inspire teachers and directors to continue in the path of professional growth improving the quality of education for all children.
Kathleen is currently the Center Director for University Christian Children's Center, an NAEYC accredited center. She brings excellent parlimentarian skills to the board.
Mabel is a valued member of our team and contriubtes her time and efforts to helping make SFAYC a great organization.
Michele has spent her professional life working in one capacity or another with children and their families. Currently she is president of SFAYC. Michele is Executive Director of the ReThink and ReUse Center which supports professional development and provides access to affordable recyclable materials to promote activities for school readiness.
Lydia has been instrumental in SFAYC's inception and continued work.
